It acts as a gatekeeper, shuttling commands to the selected I2C port using a simple control byte. This compact board comes with the TCA9548A chip on a breadboard friendly breakout, complete with capacitors, pull ups, and pull downs for easy use. Compatible with both 3V and 5V logic levels.
