Yes, I put it in a 2002 Subaru WRX bugeye with an EJ257 block and EJ205 heads.
And yesโthis oil absolutely slaps.
This engine is not stock, not delicate, and definitely not living an easy life. It sees spirited driving, boost, and the occasional questionable decision. After switching to Mobil 1 0W-40, cold starts are smoother, oil pressure is rock solid, and the motor just feels happier. No weird noises, no drama, no oil consumption surprises.
The viscosity is perfect for a performance Subaru build, especially if youโre running tighter tolerances or want strong protection under heat and load. Itโs thick enough when hot, flows great when cold, and inspires confidence every time I turn the key.
Is it technically โEuropeanโ? Sure.
Does my Subaru care? Not even a little.
